What do you really love to do?

If you want to figure out what really makes you thrive and what you really feel is your calling, first I want to let you in on a secret. It’s probably something that feels so normal to you, that comes to you so easily that you don’t even realize what it is.

Many people think you have to build and establish something big and meaningful, that your calling requires a lot of work. It’s actually quite different. Things that come most naturally to you, that seem so effortless you don’t think of them as work, are those things we’re very good at and meant to be doing in our lives. And very soon, I’ll be sharing something I’ve been working on to help you really find your true talents. I can’t wait to tell you more about it! Until then, let me share an example from my own life…

Your True Talents Are Different From Others

Before my husband and I were married, I told him I wanted a card for Christmas one year. To me, writing a card is a totally easy and natural thing to do. It takes me a few minutes to put a heartfelt message on paper and I wanted this from him.

So on December 24th, I saw him sitting at his desk for hours—and I thought: What is he doing? I went over and asked him and he said: Well, I’m writing you a card. And I replied: For 3 hours?! And he said: Yeah, this is hard for me.

I felt so bad that I had asked him to do something like that. It was not my intention to and I had no idea it would be like that for him—I’d just thought it would be lovely to get a card. I didn’t even think about how easily that comes to me and how difficult it can be for others.

Discover Your True Talents

Whatever it is that you’re best at, that you really want to express, it may be something that looks so absolutely normal, so natural to you, that you don’t even think about it.

I prepared some questions to help you dig into what you love a little further. As always, find a comfortable space to sit down with a pen and paper, make yourself a cup of coffee (or epic matcha tea), and do some deep breathing. Breathe in to the count of 4, hold for 4 counts, and exhale to the count of 8. When you feel a sense of calmness come over you, write your answers to these questions:

What was your favorite thing that you’ve done this week? This month? This year? Ever?

Name 5 things that lit you up when you were a kid.

What was something you always loved to do but felt afraid doing?

What would you do if you weren’t afraid?

What would you do if you had all the money in the world? What would your life look like? What would you do during your days?

What did your parents, teachers, and colleagues always say you’re good at?

What do people ask you for help with?

Why True Talents Are So Important for YOU!

Moving forward, if you do something in your life that you love, you will add value to your life. If you bring more value into your life, you’ll bring more joy too. When you bring more joy into your life, you’ll be more motivated to bring more value. And value has nothing to do with money. By value, I mean what you value: what is important to you, what lights you up, and what it is that your soul does a happy dance for!
